Installation instructions and precautions for rubber expansion joints

Rubber expansion joints are widely used in pipeline systems for water supply and drainage, chemical industry, HVAC, fire protection and sewage treatment. They function for vibration and noise reduction, pipeline displacement compensation, deformation buffering, as well as sealing and leak prevention.

✅ Installation points

1. Keep concentric alignment
When installing, make sure the rubber joint is concentric with the flanges on both ends. Do not pull or twist the joint by force, otherwise the rubber body will stay twisted after installation and suffer premature tearing and damage. Tighten flange bolts evenly in a diagonal sequence. Never fasten all bolts on one side at the same time. Even force distribution protects the sealing surface from damage.
2. Control displacement range
This joint can absorb axial, lateral and angular displacements of pipelines, but the displacement shall not exceed the compensation value marked on the product. For working conditions with large thermal expansion and contraction of pipelines, leave enough allowance. Rubber expansion joints cannot bear excessive deformation.
3. Supports and limit devices
Pipe supports and brackets are necessary for heavy or high-pressure pipelines. For high-pressure and large-diameter working conditions, limit tie rods are recommended to avoid overstretching and separation of the rubber joint under pressure surge.
4. Medium and flow direction
If the medium is acid, alkali or oil, select matching corrosion-resistant rubber materials in advance. For rubber joints with inner deflectors, the arrow mark on the deflector must follow the medium flow direction.

⚠️ Prohibited operations
Do not perform welding near the rubber body. Sparks and high temperature will burn rubber and lead to cracking and leakage.
Do not use rubber expansion joints to compensate for pipeline installation misalignment. Forced correction will greatly shorten service life.
Avoid scratching the rubber surface with sharp or hard objects. Scratches and cracks easily cause leakage.
Do not operate under overpressure. Working pressure must conform to the parameters shown on the product nameplate.

✨ Product advantages
The elastic rubber body delivers outstanding vibration damping, isolating vibration and noise transmitted by water pumps and valves. It features reliable sealing performance, matches flange pipes, and is simple to assemble and disassemble. When paired with PTFE composite gaskets, the flange sealing becomes more stable for corrosive media with lower leakage risk.
We supply a full range of sizes and support non-standard customization. Products are in stock at the factory. One-stop supply of matching flanges and gaskets is available.
